(We will sign off on ideas perhaps within the next week and get more suggestions from the public and then choose from the options presented)Danny asked for anyone who had photos or archival information to be given to him as he will add this to the new websiteWe are also adding a link site to the allies who come on board with us as it is all about networking and making ourselves accessible in every way. Pictures must be of good quality as they will be uploaded and sometimes the transfer is not easily made. (i.e. Cell phone pictures vs. digital camera photos)Danny’s website will be uploaded to FB page so everyone can take a look at what he had already organized and what we hope to collaborate with our site. 5) “Bid-a-date” FundraiserWe are going to have a fundraiser in which members of the public and the community will be auctioned off for an hour long date (taking place at the event itself)Looking at possibly getting some local celebrities and some other great volunteers from the community to offer themselves up for the night’s event. Special Guest MC is to be announced as well as definitive time and date (STAY TUNED!)Location will be also announced at a later time, this is only because we have yet to confirm everything and would rather get all of our ducks in a row before proceeding)Luke is going to be discussing donations from the NL Liquor Corporation and we can also try and get some more local businesses involved to assist with decorationsMUN music school students are going to be approached as table side violin players for the eventWE NEED TO COME UP WITH A BETTER NAME! SOMETHING CATCHY!!!!! SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE WILL TAKE NOTICE OF!!6) Incorporation status: BIG NEWS!!!!!Due to the time constraints and some financial reasons, we are unable to drop the Incorporation as it stands for this year’s Pride Celebrations. However, once the week of events are completed, the BOD has voted on dropping the Incorporation and instead re-registering the organization without the INC. attached. This is VERY IMPORTANT to get other allies on our side and to ENCOURAGE others to become involved. BOD STATEMENT: We have to keep the incorporation as is now for the reasons previously stated, however we are opening up the community to the fact that if they want to have something with “Pride” attached they are more than welcome to and we will fully support them and the benefits that they are trying to achieve. We are opening up to the community and we are insisting that they will have no issues with us in terms of their own events, and in fact we will, if possible, assist and become involved (under their guidance) if asked. The importance of this is that we need to create more support through diversity and universality than through segregation and total control of what is happening in and around the communityWe, the BOD, realize that we do not own PRIDE and we need to reach out to the community and it’s allies and show support through working together to bring progress to all organizations involved. 7) Opened the floor to comments (9:25pm) There were none. 8) Meeting Adjourned. Wednesday: Sexuality Unconference

(Source from Facebook Event)

Sexuality is not a leisure or part-time activity. It is a way of being. – Alexander Lowen

The Sexuality Unconference is an awesome, participation driven event created to encourage the sharing of ideas, knowledge, personal experiences, and provide and opportunity to for lively discussion about ALL elements of sexuality and the impact it has on our daily lives, inside and out of the bedroom. Queer, straight, kinky, curious, students, non students - all are welcome!

There will be coffee & snack foods available throughout the day, a pizza lunch, and a Pride on Campus BBQ & Patio Party in the Breezeway at 5 PM after the Sexuality Unconference.

There is one hitch - participation is required! Read below for more info~

———————

// How do I participate?:

Everyone is given an equal opportunity to register for a 20 minute time slot, during which you can give a presentation, share a personal experience, host a workshop, or facillitate a discussion about any topic related to sexuality or gender - you do not have to be an expert.

Time slot registration occurs on the day of the Unconference, after the Unconference Introduction, at 10:20 AM, and during lunch at 1:00 PM. There will be a schedule on the wall - all you have to do is put your topic or the name of your presentation into your chosen time slot, and when the time comes around, it is your turn to present!

Show up at 9:30 AM to get coffee and to mix and mingle with other attendees!

Power point and presentations involving the internet are permitted, as computer access is available.

// What if I don’t want to do a presentation?:

Contribute to the discussions, ask questions, clap, cheer, offer suggestions, help set up coffee, mix and mingle, tell people about the event, bring your friends, talk to people during lunch, just get involved! This is not a spectator’s event, but we have nothing against shy people either, every little effort is appreciated.

// What topics are being talked about?:

The registration happens on the day of the Sexuality Unconference, so there is no way to know for sure what topics will be discussed. Word around the rumour mill suggests some likely topics are polyamory, demystifying kink, sexuality community organizing (“herding cats”), bondage 101, all about consent, gender fluidity, and more.

You shape what topics are talked about, and what direction the day takes. If those topics don’t interest you, come do a presentation on one that does!

Challenging, creative, controversial, spontaneious, authentic presentations are encouraged just as much as - or even more than - well prepared presentations. If you find yourself inspired to do a presentation on the day of the Unconference, and slots are available, but you aren’t prepared? Do it anyway!

// What were the topics from the Sexuality Unconference in March?:

How to come out to yourself / your partners as kinky, Being Queer and Living in St John’s, Polyamory 101 & Discussion, Subspace, Ask A Trans* Man, Edgeplay.

Richard Ryder Is Coming to Yuk Yuks

On Thursday July 21st, Richard Ryder will be performing at Yuk Yuks along with Evany Rosen and Newfoundlands own Mark Day. But, who is Richard Ryder? Here is his bio from www.richardryder.ca:

“Fast thinking and quick witted, Richard ryder takes the stage with a refreshing energy and “no holds barred” attitude that audiences welcome again and again. No topic is too taboo for this Toronto native whose comedy is fresh, fast, funny and a constant source of embarrassment to his whole family … which is exactly how it should be!

Heard daily hosting the morning show on 103.9 PROUD FM and seen weekly on This Week On OUT TV, Richard’s brilliantly eclectic humour has also been featured on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, CBC Radio 1’s Accent On Toronto, Q107 where he

won their Funniest Person With A Day Job contest as well as on many TV and Movie productions. As it that weren’t enough, Richard can be seen live, working the comedy circuit throughout Canada and the States.”

Doors Open at 4.30 pm, Amateurs 8 pm, Pros 9.30 pm.

Included in the ticket will be a post-comedy Dance Party that starts at 11 pm.

This event is 19+ age group only. Tickets $20 each. This is an official fund raiser for Pride. Part of the proceeds will go to Pride to cover the various costs of other free Pride events.

Tickets at Yuk Yuks Box Office in person (193 Kenmount) or charge by phone (709-726-9857). You may also contact Jennifer McCreath or Brock Ballard via Facebook to buy tickets in person via cash payment.
